We are very excited to celebrate BURR’s 2019 Founder’s Day Honorees: Alexandra Bennis and Linda Hansen. The Commack PTA Council’s annual Founder’s Day Dinner commemorates the day when the PTA first took form. in 1897, Alice McClellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst called together some 2,000 persons to “discuss questions most vital to the welfare of the children…” Held in Washington, D.C., that meeting gave birth to the national PTA organization dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in the home, school and community. This year’s honorees embody a commitment to creating a true community for BURR’s children and families. They are both unique and remarkable women and the BURR I.S. PTA is proud to celebrate their accomplishments.
